This open pavilion was constructed for Paris Fashion Week September 2013 to showcase Céline’s Spring Summer 2014 collection. Made from unfinished timber joists the pavilion was inserted orthogonally into the found space, a type of ‘Rohbau’ or ‘raw building’. Its walls cut into the show space creating a compressed field of varying conditions. A pink brick floor was laid in an Arabic bond, a bricklaying method to form an exuberant pattern. A meandering path was set out to create an unexpected and street-like runway that ensured maximum intimacy between the collection and the audience. The differently coloured metal seats in an array of colours were individually crushed, echoing the theme of compression and density of this design.
