CMK’s New York flagship store for Céline occupies a typical SoHo warehouse with high ceilings, cast-iron columns and a landmark-protected facade. A series of articulated volumes were inserted to create a sequence of distinct spaces. Lightboxes are suspended from the cellulose-sprayed ceiling which retrace the outlines of these spaces. The walls are finished in marmorino plaster and the stone floor features inlays of a variety of materials including the distinctive marble parquet that CMK developed for Céline. The design mirrors the aesthetic of the fashions it houses, with strong lines and a monochrome palette. Selected interior features such as the concrete seat, free-standing mirrors, floor lamps and the chandelier were created by the Danish artist FOS.
